Ekibyo Drakmord Vs Maiden With Eyes of Blue

I know how hard it is to get your hands on the new Blue-Eyes support (and if you have it, then a tip of the hat to you). So, I thought I'd release my current TCG Blue-Eyes build. It's nothing fantastic, but if you play your cards right and really believe in the heart of the cards, you can beat anything.

Fair warning, this deck contains none of the new Blue-Eyes support, so it's not as powerful as it could be.

3x Blue-Eyes White Dragon

user uploaded image

If this card isn't already your best friend, then prepare to meet your new ace monster.

3x Maiden with Eyes of Blue

user uploaded image

Hellooo gorgeous.

Not only does she carry the spirit of Blue-Eyes with her, she's also the perfect shield. If she's attacked, you can negate the attack, switch her to defense position and special summon Big Blue to mop the floor with the competition. Of course, she can also chain on affects, but, Maiden cannot negate effects that target her. How unfortunate. Or is it? If for some reason you needed to, you can target Maiden yourself and activate her effect plus resolve whatever boost you wanted to give her. So perhaps she's not the perfect shield, but she's an excellent companion to any Blue-Eyes deck.

3x White Stone of Legend

user uploaded image

I know, believe me, I know. This card glitches like nothing else, but it has it's uses. For example, if you happen to have a Trade-In in your hand, you can use Cards or Consonance to increase your draw power and bring Blue-Eyes to your hand so you can activate Trade-In, or use Dragon Shrine to achieve the same effect. Not to mention it also acts as a tuner, making summoning things like Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon cake.

1x Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon

user uploaded image

I was surprised to find out how many people didn't know about this card. It's an instant must for any dragon deck, to say the least. I know, it's a Red-Eyes card, but a damn good one. The only negative thing I could say about this card is that you must be careful how you play this card or it will be your undoing. It's summoning conditions are relatively easy, but it's not hard to get rid of either. One false move, and you could leave yourself wide open (but, to be fair, that's true with any card). Also very useful when trying to summon level 11 Synchros. Well, technically speaking, there's only one level 11 Synchro monster so far and, fortunately, it just so happens to run well in this deck.

2x Bright Star Dragon

user uploaded image

This is, without a doubt, one of the most important cards in this deck. I know what your thinking: "if it's so important, why not run three?" Well, because at three, it jams like nobodies business. So, to be safe, run two. Now, what it actually does. Without this card, you'll be locked out of half of your extra deck, so hope you draw it quickly. Bright Star goes best with the lovely Maiden with Eyes of Blue, which, of course, you could special summon with one for one, then normal summon this bad boy to target Maiden (don't forget to chain with her effect which in turn brings out Big Blue to the field), make her a level three then lay waste with whatever level 7 Synchro you want (or, if you managed to get Blue-Eyes to the field with Maiden's effect, then you can go into a level 11 Synchro, which, of course, means Star Eater). You could also use him to special Dark Rebellion Xyz or whatever level 4 you choose to use, but it seems like wasted potential to me.

1x Honest

user uploaded image

Considering most of the monsters in this deck are light types, it's probably a good idea idea to run an honest or two in this deck. Now mind you, I built this deck when honest was limited to 1, so feel free to cut lose if you like. Crank it up to two, or leave it at one, whatever suits your style.

1x Rider of the Storm Winds

Let's be honest, you're going to be cornered a lot with this deck. When that happens, it's very important what you have in your hand, field and mind. If your down on your luck and you only happen to have one Blue-Eyes on your field and one card in your hand, you better thank your lucky stars if this is the card in your hand. This card is an instant save (at least, for Blue-Eyes it is) from cards like Dark Hole or Raigeki and can even beat your opponent into submission if they get cheeky and try to pull a Marshmallon or other such abnoxious cards. It also helps with the decks whole consistency through Cards of Consonance. Also, it can be special summoned through One for One.

2x Shining Angel

Three words: one card arsenal. This card, in itself, can special summon Maiden, The White Stone of Legend, Bright Star (which I never advise you to do because it negates the effect), Honest (which then allows you to use it's effect during your main phase), Rider of the Storm Winds (which, of course, if you still happen to have a Blue-Eyes on the field, can be a humongous advantage), another Shining Angel, or even Swordsman of Revealing Light (whose benefits I'll explain in this upcoming segment). In desperate times, it can also be used as material for a rank four Xyz.

1x Darkstorm (or Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys)

user uploaded image

user uploaded image

Now, this isn't as bad as it appears. Darkstorm Dragon works in this deck much better than Sacred Phoenix could ever. I just run Sacred Phoenix because I have a history with it and it happens to have an effect somewhat like Stardust, minus the effect canceling. So, for this, I'll mainly go over Darkstorm. Well, what can I say? She works! Darkstorm's a Gemini type, so she's a normal monster when you need it and and an effect monster when you don't. Making her susceptible to cards like Silver's Cry and Rider of the Storm Winds. Not to mention it's a a level 8, so it also boosts the decks consistency through Trade-in (of course, Sacred Phoenix does that as well).

3x Swordsman of Revealing Light

user uploaded image

The first time I saw this card being run in a Blue-Eyes deck, I thought "why would anyone, in their right mind, ever, run Swordsman in a Blue-Eyes Deck?" Now, of course, after so long, I don't know how I ever lived without it. If a small monster, say Celtic Guardian, attacked you directly, you could special this bad boy and poof, not only is the attack negated, Celtic Guardian is also destroyed. Enough about that, though. Those effects could go well with any old deck. The real key effect of this card is that it's a level 8, meaning it can be used as material for a rank 8 Xyz (which this deck happens go be full of). Not only that, it also let's whatever Xyz is summoned with this card inflict piercing damage. I just wish it could be used in the synchros in this deck.

Now, because I firmly believe trap cards have no place in a slow moving deck like Blue-Eyes, I'll do Spells next. I'll explain some, but not all.

1x Book of Moon

user uploaded image

Defense purposeses, mostly. If a monster is attacking, flip his or your own monster. Also, if your monster is being target, for example, by Ekibyo Drakmord, you can flip your monster face down to relieve the effect.

2x Cards of Consonance

user uploaded image

If I have to tell you what this is for, leave this page right now.

3x Trade-In

user uploaded image

Read Cards of Consonance

1x Dragon's Mirror

user uploaded image

Almost like a glass cannon, this card will wreck your deck after you use it. That is to say, if you summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate or Five-Headed Dragon with it, it should only be when you're absolutely sure that the summoning can't me negated. Trust me, it will really mess with your chances of victory.

2x Mystical Space Typhoon

Obviously, better cards have emerged since I built this deck (yes, I'm talking about Twin Twisters). It's your choice whether you keep or replace this card.

1x One for One

Limited, and rightfully so. You can use this card to bring out Maiden, White Stone or Rider of the Storm Winds. All have their respective advantages.

1x Raigeki

user uploaded image

A little pricey, but worth every penny (or at least until Konami bans it again).

2x Silver's Cry

Silver's Cry will soon be replaced by Return of the Dragon Lords this upcoming 8th, but I still prefer this card because it's a quick effect spell.

Last, traps.

Most of these are defensive. So feel free to swap out some

1x Bottomless Trap Hole

2x Call of the Haunted

Think of it as the backup plan to your backup plan.

2x Fiendish Chain

For those pesky Clear Wings and Silent Honor Arks. Or, if you're desperate, you can target your own Maiden and chain with her effect (the ruling is correct. I've checked several times ). Instant Azure-Eyes.

1x Ring of Destruction

Defensive purposes mostly.

1x Torrential Tribute

Meh.

And finally, the best and most essential part, the extra deck.

1x Ancient Sacred Wyvern

user uploaded image

Mainly for overpowering your enemy. Good finisher. Can easily be summoned with Maiden (or any level 1 tuner) and Bright Star Dragon.

2x Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon

user uploaded image

A beautiful monster, and I don't just mean the artwork. When an Azure-Eyes is summoned, it instantly goes into helmet mode. Which then renders it impervious to targeting effects. Then, once per turn, you can special a normal monster in your grave to the field. So, if you manage to keep it on the field long enough, you can have an army of Blue-Eyes (and another Azure-Eyes if you choose so).

1x Black Rose Dragon

user uploaded image

Another level 7 Synchro that can be summoned through Bright Star Dragon's effect. Mostly, recommended if you have a Call of the Haunted or Silver's Cry in your hand.

1x Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon

user uploaded image

For that off chance that you get to summon it. Think of it as an in case of emergency. Dragon's Mirror only in this deck.

1x Clear Wing Synchro Dragon

user uploaded image

Just an excellent card in general. Of course, don't summon it if there's a huge normal monster on the field like Blue-Eyes. I just wish Crystal Wing can be used in this deck. Can be summoned with Bright Star's effect.

1x Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon

user uploaded image

You'd be surprised how often you can get two level four on the field. Out of all rank 4 monsters, Dark Rebellion has the highest destructive capabilities. Just be careful with facedowns.

1x Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand

user uploaded image

Easy to summon and great for eliminating those pesky effect monsters you just can't seem to blow up.

1x Evilswarm Exciton Knight

I know, I know. Great cards, excellent effect. Too good. That's why Konami banned this card. At the time this deck was built , it hadn't been banned yet and quite honestly, I haven't found an adequate replacement for it. Although Queen Dragun Djinn would work.

1x Five-Headed Dragon

user uploaded image

You'd be surprised how easy it is to get this card on the field. The only real problem is drawing Dragon's Mirror.

1x Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis

Rather easy to summon with this deck since getting two Blue-Eyes on the field is cake. Very good for getting rid of several cards simultaneously and indestructibles like Marshmallon, Abnoxious Celtic Guardian, etc.

1x Michael, the Arch-Lightsworn

Has a heavy price, but worth it to get past tough cards. Can be special summoned through Bright Star Dragon's ability.

1x Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon

user uploaded image

It's only real purpose is to jump to another Galaxy-Eyes. In this case, it'll build a bridge for Dark Matter.

1x Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon

user uploaded image

If this deck had an objective, this is it. Dark Matter is the best, without a doubt. Not only is it simple to summon (just get two Blue-Eyes on the field and jump off Tachyon), but it also has a massive attack and a killer effect. It helps by a) Banishing three cards from your opponents deck and b) by sending three of yours, which, for this deck, is what you need to pull most maneuvers. Also, it can attack several monsters in the same battle phase, so call me crazy, but it's a deck-wrecker all right.

1x Star Eater

user uploaded image

This card, second only to Blue-Eyes, is my favorite card. There's nothing like it, almost literally (it's the only level 11 Synchro). It's summoning cannot be negated, and neither can it's attack. So, for the first turn this card is summoned, your safe. Just don't get too confident. It's like a charging bull. Terrifying and seemingly unstoppable, but also vulnerable to tripping and the like.

Well, that went on a lot longer than I would have liked, but it's worth sharing this deck.

I hoped you liked it. Perhaps I'll share my real Blue-Eyes Deck one day.

King with Eyes of Blue, over and out.
